The preferrable method is through Paypal.

The following options may require an address, if that is the case, please email tvxqwish[at]gmail.com for the address to send it to.

Preferred non-online transactions include sending money through Western Union or Moneygram or mailing a money order (for your safety, please don't send checks).

If you have US$ or can change it to US$ and want to donate through concealed cash, it is an option as well. When you send concealed cash, make sure it's concealed by folding it into a piece of paper. Include your name and email address, so you'll get an email when we receive the package. You may send this with your cranes if you have signed up to fold them.

If you're only donating, as a thank you, you can send an email to tvxqwish[at]gmail.com with any messages you would like to be written onto a crane and into the book.

Remember, every little bit helps. So even if you can only donate a dollar or two, think about it.

How to Make Paper Cranes

25 steps - Video Tutorial - Paper Examples

For the paper, anything similar to the examples will be fine. You can use plain or patterned. Please try to make this type of cranes even if you know how to fold it another way. Practice with some scrap paper if this is your first time. It takes time to be able to get the folds to look good, so don't get frustrated if you see that your folds aren't matching up.

You may use 50 x 50mm (2x2 in) or 75 x 75 mm (3x3 in) paper. An occasional 118 x 118 mm (5x5 in) is okay, but not too many because we're going to send them 11,000 cranes, which will weigh a lot. You can choose to fold cranes for only one member or for all of them. You can also add short messages on them before you fold it, but don't forget to copy those messages onto another paper, or else they won't be placed in the book! And they must be in English, but you can translate them into another language if you'd like it to be written into the book as well.

When mailing the cranes, try to use a bubble mailer not too much bigger than the amount of cranes you'll put in so that it'll fit into the mailbox easily while still protecting your cranes. For even more safety, don't do the last step of pulling the wings out. Keep them flat so it won't get squished.

Make sure you include the messages you've written on another piece of paper. The book will also include a list of participants, so include your name (user/fake/real is your choice) and country as well. Write your email address too, so that when your package is received, you'll be informed and reassured that it all worked out.

Because not everyone signed up when we sent this email, here is some additional information we wrote to clear up any confusion about the cranes:

The Cranes:

Don't worry too much if you can't achieve your minimum. Just do your best. Try. Try hard.

If you have a color that doesn't go well into a member's pile, it will automatically go into the group's.

Cranes with messages will be the first to be separated. If there are too many cranes for one member, the cranes without messages will be placed in the group's pile.

All cranes will be sent. Every. Single. One. Even if we manage to go over our goal.

The Messages:

You may write whatever you want as long as it is not offensive. Song lyrics or quotes are fine. UFO-like messages are also okay.

You may write as many or as little messages as you want.

Most of them should be around 25-30 words, but you can write a few (up to 8) long ones.

On the cranes, you can write in whatever language you want.

Write your messages before you fold the cranes- they will be hidden. That's why we have the book.

On the separate paper, your message that you wrote on the crane, and any additional ones, MUST be in English. But you can include your translations.

If your translations are not in Latin letters (like Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, etc...) please write them on white paper neatly, as they will be scanned into the book instead of typed/written.

Label which messages are for which member or if it is for the group.

Mailing the Cranes:

Once again: Do not finish the last step of opening the crane by pulling the wings. Send them flat so they don't get squished when it's mailed. We will do the last step for all of you. Which is why it is important to send it before the deadline. It takes time to pull 11,000 pairs of wings, you know XD

Keep the cranes with messages separate with those that don't. Put them in a plastic baggie if you can.

If you want to make things easier for us, you can separate the cranes for each member. Send them all in the same envelope, but use plastic baggies or something similar.

Send them as soon as possible. And definitely before October 1st (or September 15 if you're not sending it to the USA address).

Email us when you send it; tell us where you're sending it and the number of cranes you folded.

Updates for Participants

May 2, 2009

Because we're received a few emails and questions about this:

- The messages we are telling you to write on a separate piece of paper are the messages you wrote on the cranes. If you want to write more messages than that, or if you just want to write a few longer messages, you can include that on the separate paper. But we expect all the messages you wrote on the cranes to be put in the book.

- We ask that because none of the messages should be read from the cranes. Write the messages on the inside of the cranes, not on the wings. We don't want to ruin the color scheme and it would be hard for anybody to read it anyway. We have the book because we want all the messages in the same place. Even short, short messages like "I love you, TVXQ" or "TVXQ, Fighting!" will be put into the book with your name attached.

- We are letting everyone write a few long messages (let's say, no more than 8?) that should not be as long as an essay, but can be a few paragraphs long. Otherwise, they should be around 25-30 words.

- Just in case: If you're including translations in Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or anything else that takes a while to learn to type, please write them neatly on unlined, white paper. These messages will be scanned. Everything else will be typed. And if you do write translations, they will be on the same page (or on the next if it's too long) as the English one.

More questions? Email us or write in the tagbox! We don't bite. Really. We're nice. You can ask everyone else.

~

Also. Not to scare anybody, but I'm sure we've all heard about the swine flu that's going around. Although we don't think it's as dangerous as everyone thinks it is, we just wanna say....

Everybody, if you're sick, don't spend your time on the cranes. Stay in bed and rest, okay? And wash your hands frequently. (you should be doing that anyway) We don't care if you have the swine flu or if you have the regular cold, your health is more important than the cranes or even school! Okay? If you feel really sick, tell your mom/dad and stay home for a day. Or take a sick day if you're going to work.

If you're still in school, you can tell your mom/dad it's because you don't want to get your friends sick, okay? ^_~ But only if you're actually sick, of course. Don't cut school if you're not sick, TVXQ will not be happy to hear about that. Probably.

And as long as you don't sneeze or blow your nose on the papers you're sending to us, we won't get sick either, don't worry. XD

We look forward to getting your cranes! Have a good May!

The Inspiration Behind the 2009 Project

As one of several international projects for TVXQ, we hope that this is one that everyone from all over and from all forums, fansites, and blogs will decide to participate in for their 6th anniversary. So what is The Thousands Cranes Project all about?

Cranes are held in high regard in many Asian cultures, Chinese and Japanese in particular. They have long been a symbol representing good health, longevity, truth, loyalty, nobility, fidelity, and beauty. Thought to be “well-behaved like gentlemen, incorruptible and naturally clean and honest”, to be compared to one was a compliment of the highest order.

But cranes are known for more than that; an ancient Japanese legend promises that whoever folds 1000 paper cranes will be granted a wish, usually health related. And in the 1950’s, the story of a Japanese girl called Sadako Sasaki, who contracted leukemia because of the Hiroshima bombing during World War II, spread the hope of the 1000 Cranes throughout the world. Since Sadako Sasaki tried to fold her own 1000 cranes, it has become known as a symbol of world peace. And so the old Japanese legend flourished once again.
For the 6th anniversary of Tong Vfang Xien Qi (Tohoshinki/Dong Bang Shin Ki), it is our hope that we, as international fans, can gather together to fold these paper cranes to show our support for their dreams, hopes, and wishes. As any fan of TVXQ would know, while material gifts allow them to understand our strong feelings for them, it is our support that they want the most. Recently, fans have taken to donating to charities in their names, and that, more than any gift, pleases them the most.

The Thousands Cranes project is still a material gift, but it is one that shows our dedication and support the most, as we take the time to fold each crane individually. As we complete each crane, our hopes and wishes for TVXQ will be folded into every crease and edge of the origami crane. If you are interested in being a part of this project, please visit the other links to see what the project actually includes.
Excerpt was taken from Mrs. Lin’s Kitchen Website. In celebration of their 6th anniversary (breaking the so-called 5 year SM curse), the goal is to send 6,000 individually folded cranes to the members of TVXQ.

6,000 cranes for 6 years; for 5 members, and for 1 team.

Or so that was the original goal, but as of April 23, 2009, TVXQWish has officially raised their goal from 6,000 to 11,000 as we hoped to do as a result of the great response from fans.
1,000 cranes for each member and 6,000 cranes for the group and for 6 years. As we easily saw, 6,000 cranes is nothing in the face of the strong support of TVXQ's fans. So let's aim for 11,000 cranes succesfully!

QianYun has personally folded 1,000 cranes as a Christmas gift to a family close to her. As encouragement, here is a picture of the finished project:

While she does have experience in folding cranes, it still only took her a couple of months. And now we can see that if enough people gather together to work hard on this, 6,000 and even 11,000 are numbers that can be easily achieved. But before we go into more talk about numbers, let’s talk more about the project.

The new goal of 11,000 cranes means that anyone who decides to participate can send in a decent amount. Anywhere from 1 to hundreds, with only a minimum number declared from each person. But considering the high popularity of the project in the beginning, we are setting a 600 crane limit per person. If we find that new sign-ups fall, we'll remove the maximum.
As we are folding these cranes with our hopes and wishes for TVXQ, part of this project is to write those hopes and wishes as well as other simple messages on the cranes. Of course, once the cranes are folded, the messages cannot be read anymore. So this part of the project includes printing out the messages and binding them into a book so that the members of TVXQ can read them.

The size of the book will depend on the number of people involved and since this is an international project, every message is required to be English. But, because this is an international project, translations of these messages into your native or learned language is accepted and even encouraged. It is your choice which language you will write on the crane itself.

Once all the cranes have been sent in, they will be packaged accordingly to each member by color either in vases similar to the one shown up there, or in a container of a simple, original design of plexiglass/plastic and wood.

As of now, the cranes, its containers and the printed book will all be sent to the SM Entertainment office sometime in the beginning of December. Presents have been delivered this way before and while it is not the best way, unless someone can offer an alternative because they'll be in Korea around that time or will be attending the Seoul encore, this is the only way we can get it to the boys properly. But if this applies to you, or if you know someone who will be in Korea and are willing to help please contact us! Everyone in the project will be eternally grateful.

Are you interested in participating/helping? Great, let’s move on to work out all The Details! Or go straight to sign up if you're impatient.

The Nitty-Gritty Details

Here we are with all the details of the project.
The goal of this project is to collect 11,000 cranes from fans and send it to TVXQ along with a book in which our hopes, wishes, dreams for them and inspirational messages (and other miscellaneous messages) to them will be printed.

Of course, no project can run without using a little money. But this one requires a lot less than most other projects. Specifically, only for shipping and the containers the cranes will be placed in. That's it. It does mean that while fan participation in folding the cranes is extremely important, donations to the project is as well. So while you think about making cranes to help with the project, think about perhaps helping out with donations as well. And all donations will go to shipping first, containers second and book last. Shipping estimates will be up as soon as possible.

While it would be fine to have all 11,000 cranes just thrown together, it would be more special if each member gets their own container of one shade of color of 1,000 cranes and the group's 6,000 cranes gets the entire range of colors. In order to do this, there are certain restrictions.

From a poll held at the beginning of this project, the colors of each member are as follows:

Yunho: Green (includes blue and yellow)
Jaejoong: Red (includes some black)
Yoochun: Blue
Junsu: Purple (includes blue and red)
Changmin: Light colors: white, yellow, orange, beige

You can visit this link to see all the pictures related to the cranes: possible colors and sizes, as well as an example of what each member's collection will look like.

If you are interested in folding cranes for this project, you can go sign up and learn all the details about the cranes, including how to fold them. For those interested in donating, you can also go sign up.

Crane folders will be required to state the minimum that you expect to send in. As long as you achieve that minimum, you can make up to 600 cranes. If possible, also include whether you think you'll be writing messages on the cranes. Remember that messages must be in English but can be translated into your language (native or learned) to be placed in the book as well. Realize that once you sign up, you're committed. While there's nothing we can do to make sure you follow through, please remember that this project is to show TVXQ how much we support them and every fan counts.

When you sign-up through email, you will be sent an email of confirmation and the address to send the cranes to when you're done. For those of you who live in the European and South Asian area (including Australia and New Zealand), you'll be given the choice to send it to the main address or the alternate one closer to your area.

The Due Date for this project is October 1st. OCTOBER 1, 2009. Please send your completed cranes before this date and try to plan for it to arrive around or before October 1st. If you have the choice and you choose to send it to an alternative address, the due date is then September 15 since the organizer in your area will be the ones who have to send it to the main address by October 1. The project will be mailed in the beginning of December and the two months will be needed to organize everything properly. If you don't trust your country's post office, plan to send it even earlier. And of course, if you finish early, please do feel free to send it out early.

And now you've reached the end of all the details related to this project. Interested and excited to help? Continue on to sign up to either fold cranes or be a donator or both! Still have questions? Visit the F.A.Q or leave them in the tagbox. Spread the word around so that we can get as many international fans included as possible. This is something that cannot succeed without the cooperation of all of TVXQ's fans, so let's get together and work hard to make sure this works out!

And just for fun, go here to tell us how you found out about this project!

Hwaiting!

TVXQWish Promotion

Since we've finally figured out the colors for the members (you can find the polls here), let's put up a new poll, just for fun.

So how did you find out about this project? Okay, not really. But the deadline's been extended, secret allowances made to new participants and all cranes have been sent to the addresses of one or the other staff. In commemoration of all the fans who got together and thought this was a good idea, here's the final list of people who signed up to get involved with the Thousands Cranes Project.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 230px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RgsJn7-S2BQ/SvzLvVbUoGI/AAAAAAAAADc/i77wuQsQaOQ/s320/11-12+Folder.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403417667003785314" />

We've had people signed up from all over the world: United States, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Denmark, Italy, Mexico, St. Lucia of the Carribbeans, Brazil, New Zealand, Germany, Malaysia, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Slovakia, France, Hungary, Argentina, Sweden, and Thailand! Only one little sign of how truly worldwide our boys have become.

Unfortunately, for one reason or the other, not everybody sent in their cranes (and as I finish organizing my emails and things, I'm starting to think some got lost in the post, oh no!). It's too bad that not everyone was able to be a part of the final project, but thank you so much for expressing your interest even when we were just a brand new group with this very first project. It boosted our confidence and helped us decide to expand this project. Which is a very good thing, as this way, I think we managed to achieve our original 6,000 cranes goal.

We hope that, if/when our next project is set up, you'll think of participating then. Don't forget, this is all going towards showing the boys our love with them, and as we hope will be our trend, ways that don't tend toward buying things, but rather making things.

Anyway, so with that said, thank you very much to those of you who signed up and successfully sent their cranes to the USA address! A warning, those of you who sent the cranes to Italy or Indonesia are not included in this list. Don't worry! We'll update this as soon as they arrive at the USA address! Thank you to the following participants:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 159px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_RgsJn7-S2BQ/SvzR8Wo2_-I/AAAAAAAAADk/9KCI_t7lcwA/s320/Final+01.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403424487737065442" />

And a thousand and twenty-seven thanks to:

Connie X. (United States)
Jade (United Kingdom)
Gabriela M (Slovakia)

for helping out by donating to the project.
